THANK YOU...
Thank you to everyone who helped make EWFEST such a success. I’m so grateful for all the help and support — whether you were building, lending, lifting, organising, volunteering or simply showing up and enjoying the day.
Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered — both in the lead-up and on the day with the bar, marshaling & especially with parking. EWFEST is a huge undertaking, and without help from the village we truly could not put on the day. Special shout-out to 3F Tent putter-uppers, and to those from the village who stepped in to help.
Biggest thanks to all brilliant performers who gave their time and talent for free:
Gavin Haycroft, Sonny Cook, Simon Garrard, Maddie Instone, Tilds & Lo, Elias, Atlas, Six Pack Sabbath, The Beazleys, The Nataraj Siblings, The Sham, Harvey & Humph & Ethan, Edie & Lucy, The Rangoon Club.
Huge thanks to Duke of Kent School, our Headline Sponsor. Their support enabled us to afford the PA system and sound team, allowing us to put on a professional show that proudly featured so many of their wonderfully talented pupils.
A heartfelt thank you to Mister Nick Rye Duke of Kent's Head of Perfroming Arts, for the on-stage support he gave his students and all the technical help he gave me in the lead up to EWFEST. Mr Rye is one of those very special teachers his pupils will never ever forget. Without him my kids wouldn't have picked up a ukulele, drum stick, flute, saxophone.... he fills all his students with confidence, ability and passion for music and performing which spills out into all aspects of my kids' and all their school friends' lives. Thank you Nick.
To John Gaines, true legend of Ewhurst — thank you for instantly saying yes to sponsorship and to all shouts of Help since. And to his Tuesday Bikers Club pub mates - you can now get to the loos without fear of me asking for money, help with parking, putting up tents... (sorry)
Huge thanks to Hunters Lodge Vets for sponsoring the hugely successful Dog Show, and to Kate Simpson, vet at Hunters, for organising it all. Thanks also to Niki Lees for kindly judging so brilliantly & fairly.
Thank you to Cranleigh Freight Services for the fantastic stage that made performing so special. Phil, your brave incredible driver who delivered the enormous trailer and stayed calm even when things got tricky...
...thank you to Angie Thomas for helping with that tricky bit — navigating Broomers Lane — and to the anonymous man who directed traffic like a pro and then vanished (hope you weren't too late collecting your son). Thank you also to the Broomers Lane residents for letting us use your private road.
Big enormous sorry to Steve, whose fence didn’t survive the event — we will get it replaced asap.
Allan Webber — thank you for the brilliant Beatles who brought smiles to so many and helped advertise the day so effectively and for the "EWFEST" on the steps - you made my vision. Thank you!
To all scarecrows makers — especially the Farr family, whose Elton John was a worthy winner of "Best Scarecrow", and to Nicci & Kerry, close runners up. Thank you to Eden Hair and Hazelbanks whose window decorations helped get us all into EWFEST spirit. Thank you for bringing creativity and joy to my drive through Ewhurst.
For many years John Round has kindly lent us his field for parking. We truly couldn’t do this without his generosity. With free entry to the event, the income from parking helps raise funds for the village. To Alan Rocker who masterminded all parking plans and supervised parking all day - 10hours!
Thank you to all carpark volunteers.
Thank you to Angus Tosh, our official photographer, for capturing the day so brilliantly. It’s lovely to have those memories as lots is a bit of a blur for me (tiredness, not drink). His fab photos are below.
James Bloomfield from LEAP who sorted through all the rubbish to check as much as possible is recycled. James, your environmental work is making a big difference - thank you!
Thank you to PRS for granting us a charity discount that allowed us to play music and save funds.
Isobel & Kai, our very professional Stage Managers — thank you.
Tom Burkett, Sound Wizard — thank you.
Steve Browning for his huge help on the day.
Sue Birkett & Charlotte by the Pond - I want you both to always be on my team.
Joanna Cadman — thank you for all the support you gave me throughout the planning.
John, Sorrel, Louise, Angie, Jan & Michael — thank you for lending us tents, aprons, chairs, barriers & fridges.
The kind and caring St John Ambulance volunteers who were kept busy with thankfully only minor injurys.
Thank you to all local residents who were affected by the day.
To all the commercial & village stallholders who put so much work, colour & fun into their stalls.
And to EWFEST's amazing committee: Sarah Smith, Katy Vaughan, Jess Hogan, Kate Simpson, Cornelia Gregory, Caroline Instone & Cat Staples & all your families thank you for working so hard for months, putting up with my madness, mucking in, and believing in the event.
And finally, thank you to everyone who donated — your generosity is what keeps EWFEST alive.
With heartfelt thanks, Harriet
